5 Steps to Take After a Night Out

Benjamin Franklin, Edgar Allan Poe, and Judy Garland were all famous…. Drinkers.

Headaches, thirst, and the possibility that you might have reincarnated, sound familiar? To all my fellow college students I have some excellent tips on what you should do after or before a crazy night out.

It was Robert Frost who once said “College was a refuge from hasty judgment,” many say that college will be the best four years of ones life, a time to be selfish and a time where all possibilities could be…  As I quickly discovered, college would be a party by night and a high school by day, with cooler and smarter kids of course. Whether it’s a drink with the guys or ladies night we’ve all been there. Which brings me to pre & post 6th street tips!

1. WATER…. Whether you drink or you don’t, water is your best friend! Before a night out I like to have a glass of water in order to stay hydrated through out the night, I also try to have some water in between drinks, you’ll stay in a “good mood, “but your liver will thank you the next day.

2. The depletion of vitamins is also why many of us feel crappy the morning after, so a nice tall glass of good old OJ will help you immensely. Most juices will do the trick, stay away from grapefruit, it’ll just amplify your headache and you might die… just kidding.

3. Smoker or not, at any club you’ll find someone is smoking around the corner, for those of you who do not know, smoking is not only bad for health issues but it also dries out your skin. After a night out, whether you smoke or not, you should have a good moisturizing lotion, because my mom is very holistic I try to use natural products such as Kiehl’s (Facial Fuel for men), girls they do have the girl version of this on their website. 4. Shower, I have a good friend who was not a big fan of these scary fountains in our restrooms, sorry Caitlin. A good way to get rid of the toxins in your body is to sweat them out, a nice steamy shower or a long bath will usually do the trick. If possible go for a walk before.

5. Finally hang out with a few friends. If I had a nickel for all the times I wanted to sob in bed I’d have … maybe like 50 cents, but you get the point. When coming down from the drinking blues try to be around friends and laugh off the craziness from the night before. We are created to be in groups of people, a psychology major told me that when humans are alone they begin to get cold inside (souls), hence why lonely people are usually sad, but that’s a different post. Find some friends and kick it with them, if you have no friends then call me and we can hang!
