Sudanese Government Resumes Peace Talks with local Rebels

Sudan is in the midst of a number of conflicts with various nations and rebel groups. The SPLM-N (Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement-North) had caused talks to break off in earlier months, after refusing to accept previously drawn up terms. The two sides have come together in an effort to end the three-year conflict in South Kordofan and the Blue Niles States.
This would appear to be a positive sign and a step in the right direction for a country rife with disputes constantly taking its attention away from domestic problems. With both sides seemingly eager to resume talks, a peaceful agreement does not seem far off.
