Jihadist militants continue targeting security personnel across Egypt in response to last July’s removal of President Mohammed Morsi and the upcoming presidential election. With bombings, attacks, and raids targeting police and other security personnel the safety of government officers as well as citizens is a major concern as they country approaches their upcoming elections.

The divide among the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood and supporters of General Sisi (expected to win presidency) is growing increasingly apparent as tensions build from the ongoing violent attacks. Depending on the trial outcome for the recently removed President Mohammed Morsi and new presidential elections we could be on the verge of major revolt and upheaval in the region. While many see the leadership change as a necessity for the country the short term effects could be extremely violent.
