Although most of the news and media coverage on Egypt has been centered around the violent protests, crimes, and civil uprisings in recent years I wonder if the real issues/causes are being overlooked. It’s easy to point the finger at their lack of government stability as the main problem but when it gets down to the individual level, unemployment and lack resources are often the cause of most civil problems. With unemployment reported at 13% and rising it’s easy to see why people are upset with their current situation. Couple that with an extremely poor physical and technological infrastructure, the unrest among citizens is only going to get worse. This of course feeds into rising crime rates, poverty, and a lack of resources- an inevitable domino affect of concerns.

As my first post, I wonder if the heart of Egypt’s issues lie within their economic problems or if there’s another main problem, such as government instability, that cause the economic issues in the first place? Kind of a chicken or the egg situation so it’s hard to find a good starting point for trying to improve their situation…
