Sudan is among the most dangerous and corrupt countries in all of Africa. The nation has been exposed to an abundance of violence through major civil wars, as well as the Darfur War. The country suffers from slavery, ethnic cleansing, significant poverty, starvation and places as one of the lowest countries in human development in the world.

-The United States has listed Sudan as a state sponsor of terrorism since 1993

-Sudan ranks 158th out of 162 countries on the Global Peace Index

-Sudan ranks 11th out of 159 countries on the Terrorism Index

-One out of five citizens lives below the poverty line

-The country is so ravaged with violence, traveling outside of its capital city Khartoum is highly discouraged
