Nigeria (official name The Federal Republic of Nigeria)
Nigeria consists of thirty six states and its considered capital Abuja. The country is located in the West region of Africa, sharing borders with Niger in the North and Chad and Cameroon in the East. The country’s coast lies in the Atlantic Ocean.
Interesting Facts:
– Nigeria is considered Africa’s most populous country: 177,155,754 (as of July 2014) according to The World Factbook.
– Life expectancy for Nigerians is 51.86; one of the biggest factors that affect the mortality rate in this country is AIDS.
– There are more than 500 indigenous languages spoken thought the country, English and Igbo are generally spoken as well.
– The religions that dominate the country are Muslim and Christianity, with the first being at 50% and the second at 40%, a small percentage of the population still cling to older believes.
Recently Nigeria has gone thru a drastic change in its economy, due to a “government revision” that helped leaders reflect why the country was not benefiting from its natural oil production.
