With the upcoming presidential elections in Egypt the fear of continued political violence hasn’t shown signs of slowing down. With decades of violence from  the government, the Muslim Brotherhood, and other local groups the conflict surrounding this region has hinged on one main focal point – the struggle for power between the government/military and Islamic forces.

It will be interesting to see what changes are forthcoming from the presidential election as well as the reactions from the involved parties. With so much contention surrounding the state of politics and power in Egypt I worry that it’s a firecracker waiting to be lit by the wrong group. Hopefully the election proves to be a step in the right direction and not a point of further divide among the Egyptian people. Only time will tell I suppose…
