**Update- Starting Spring 2022- The MAC program will begin the transition back to campus will plans to be completed back to campus by Fall 2022. Telemental health is still an acceptable form for students to accrue hours with the proper orientation, training, and resources that the site provides. However, 100% telemental health is not acceptable.
St. Edward’s University has canceled all on-campus instruction through the spring semester of 2021 in response to COVID-19. All instruction within the MAC program will be remote through the summer 2021 semester. Similarly, sites may be maintaining their own preventive measures, which might include closures, telemental health, and/or modifications in face-to-face service delivery. Modifications regarding requirements have been implemented for current students enrolled in practicum and internship. Please note that weekly individual/triadic supervision is required as long as students are seeing clients; distance supervision is a suitable means to do so.
We have asked all students to be mindful of all ethical, legal, and professional issues related to our profession and to seek supervision accordingly. Guidelines have been provided to students and sites that are providing technology-assisted services. Additionally, all students who will be providing technology-assisted counseling services must have the appropriate training and be supervised by a site supervisor who is competent in delivering technology-assisted counseling and supervision. See the statement put forward by one of the leading student liability insurance companies HSPO here.
As always please feel free to reach out to your supervisee’s university supervisor or the internship coordinator Dr. Melissa Alvarado with any questions or concerns.
We will continue to provide updates and resources for site supervisors on this page.
Training Resources- Note that all sites are responsible for ensuring that students have the training and appropriate orientation to the site and the means of service delivery. Below are some resources that may be helpful.
