More speakers, and internship interest.

The last seminar, had more speakers presenting their works and such, with three all still being graphic design majors.

The first speaker, Alejandro, talked mostly about his involvement in the game industry, namely how he does not make the games, but markets them. With past involvement with Blizzard, he most recently worked with the people at SXSW. His speech made me most interested in an internship that they would be offering when they are running.

The second speaker, Anthony Zubia, talked about his past success working with campaigns that promote testicular cancer awareness, marketing the very successful graphics that demonstrate how to check yourself. He shows his original graphic, several deviations on that design, as well as a few other originals.

The third speaker, Edith Valle, while younger than the other two, shows some of her work, mostly centered around her Mexican heritage. She had not done as much as them but she shows what she has done and it is interesting.

To suddenly change the subject, internships are interesting and I would like one in which I work with SXSW, Rooster Teeth, or Blizzard, while they aren’t positions I’m particularly into, they are all in industries that I would want to get involved in.

11/3 (because titles for unrelated subjects are hard)

The last seminar had more speakers but this time they were all graphic design proffessors

The first speaker talked about a special type of printer he had constructed with more color, showed some posters he had made, talked about the idea of public, an event called Zinefest, and brought up the works of graphic designers Molly Sherman and Kelcey Towell

Bill Kennedy the second speaker instead of talking about stuff gave us a slideshow of his pieces, which featured ones that made me comment in my notes things like “water mark” “green” and “minion shitpost”

Tuan Phan was the third speaker. He showed stuff that he made around the time of the election with trump making that one face he makes, designs for a bag, a pieces he made in Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand, and a piece on white collar crime.

Kim Garza the final speaker, focused more on talking about working on what you believe in, what you are passionate about, and what is important to you. She also showed pieces on Christianity, sudden infant death syndrome, child obesity, A musical re-dubbing with the same video, re-shooting with the same audio, and a full remake.

As far as my plan goes for the next five years, I plan on working on College, and also starting to make art regularly to cultivate a small following online, with that I hope to get a job somewhere while still in college, and to use that to further my image, and get bigger and better projects to work on. If my plan seems unclear it’s because I don’t really know how I plan on going about it either.

Degree plan

My major is Graphic Design, and I plan on pursuing it all four years at st. eds. With that in mind I also am hoping to do one of those semesters abroad. If plans go awry and I can’t complete a degree in Graphic Design I plan on shifting majors only slightly. For the actual four year plan I am meeting with my counselor on Thursday and putting something more concrete in place, instead of just saying “I do my majors degree plan” so that I can fit in room for my second interest

While I already dropped the Idea of a double major, getting rid of Communication, for sake of not finding it to be what I thought, I am extremely interested in the IGST classes. while there is no formal minor plan yet, I still would like to take many of its classes for the sake of learning more.
