Yousuf Karsh is another amazing film photographer, he was able to tell a story with his photos, they were incredible portraits with amazing lighting. He was able to photograph many inspiring people with amazing stories to tell. I took a few portraits for my final and he was definitely someone I looked at while trying to shoot and develop my photos.

Unknown-2

This photo is one of my favorite photos ever, I think the way he used the soft lighting and incredible detail on his face to really intrigue the eye in a way that you are reading into the photo is incredible.

Ansel Adams is someone who truly inspires me with his landscape photos, I find them so amazing and raw. The way he shoots film and finds a way to get that picture so perfect showing all the detail and beauty in nature is amazing. I recently took some pictures on ancestry and they were outside and I truly tried to get as much detail as possible within the photo.

Kim Garza, is a graphic designer who teaches junior level classes here at St. Edwards. She’s had every title you can possibly have and is now designing apps for phones. Her first app she designed was called eventurist and its for people who travel quite often or are planning a trip. The app helps you plan a little better and get to where you’re headed a bit easier.

Tammie Ruben is a ceramic sculpture whom sculpts things out of recycled material, like plastic food covers or plastic bottles. She takes these objects and burns them and then glosses them with color. I like her way of thinking and what she does, I find it extremely interesting and different. I also love the way she described her process by just expanding on something small.

James (I don’t know his last name), is a photography major, he takes pictures with a view camera, I believe. He takes pictures of accidental beauty and has a series having to do with space. A lot of his pictures are taken at night with very little lighting and he uses surrealism as the base of his pictures.

Part Two

I feel that this course gave me a look at what I can do with my major and what others have done. I enjoyed looking and listening to other people who are interested in the same thing I am and show me what all I can do with it.

The way things go was extremely interesting and something I feel I connect to considering right now I am going through things that can be changed and its just the way it goes. I enjoyed this video because it showed me how everything has a different outcome in order to get to that perfect ending. I learned that even though you can have a perfect plan, sometimes thing just don’t as planned. When watching this i also really liked all the different noises that the video made as it was going through the different elements; A  lot go things we go through make different sounds in our lives.

David Blaine was very interesting to me in the way he tried so hard to achieve what he wanted without even caring about consequences that could possibly happen. Watching this talk I realized that anything is really possible if you work extremely hard on it and really are passionate about something. I liked how David Blaine tried all of this insane ideas just to get where he wanted and he did. This showed me that practice makes perfect and nothing can really stop you if you want something that bad. When achieving something great you have to want it more than anything in the world, and that exactly what he did.

Radio lab beyond time was extremely interesting to me in the way that things have changed. I liked how it was all listening and not watching or reading, in my opinion, listening is much harder than reading, I find that when listening I really have to concentrate to what I’m hearing especially when the person is not in front of me. I liked the some what story that was told and how far the world has come. It made me have to try and visualize a lot of what was happening in this hearing.

Tuan is a graphic designer who does a lot of work for his family, friends and his students. He’s done a tattoo for a friend his works is very geometrical in my opinion. He’s made everyone gifts never really buys any. His work was very cool and electronic.

Hollis had some extremely cool art pieces, she is working on a large scale comic book about herself. I like that all her of her art pieces are based on natural disasters, which really give us a crazy visual on how terrible they are and the harm they can do. Hollis’s art pieces really tell a story in my opinion and give me an extreme visual on the destruction of the american dream.

Bill is a photo communications major, who started by photographing texas prisons and then got into photographing natural architecture, commercial photography and portraits. Bill photographed a cancer patient for many years and then started doing ptortralurge photography. Now, he destructs the image and puts it together in by just color.

My five year plan would be to get an awesome internship, graduate college move to the west coast or to New York and hopefully work for a fashion magazine company. In other to accomplish this goal I need to really take advantage of my school, get awesome grades and get involved, I need to practice practice and practice. When I become a junior I will need to get a big internship somewhere so that I can I really get my name out there. I would also like to study abroad some time soon in college to Spain and photograph all the around Europe with my digital and film camera. Then move somewhere for my job and make it big in this world.

Aztec

aztecThese two pictures are my recent work, we were supposed to make collages to re-create our images. During this project I decided to re-create my images and turn them into aztec prints by combining all the different “textured and boring” images. Considering Aztec print is so crazy and bright I liked the way mine came out, vert simple yet still interesting.

This project was very difficult for me since I’m not exactly a cut and paste type of person and need order. After trying several times starting with just trying to make the Guerro sign more interesting I found my pattern. I took these patterns and really tried to push forward with them, creating my final picture which turned into an aztec type print using the cut, paste and layering tools. This project showed me how much you can do with photoshop and how much I have to learn, which I definitely plan on doing.
