HIST 4349 Topics in History: Modern Revolutions

This course is a comparative analysis of the problem causes, stages, and accomplishments of some of the most significant revolutions in modern times– such as the French Revolution of 1789, the Russian revolutions of 1917 and 1991, the Chinese Revolution, the Iranian Revolution, the Eastern European and the South African revolutions of the later half of the 20th century. In addition, the course examines Islamic revolutionary movements and current events in some of the 2011 Arab spring uprisings.
