Political Science Alumnus is First U.S. Citizen to Earn International Environmental Law Specialization

Political Science major Christopher Gabel ’10 graduated from the Institut de Hautes Études Internationales et du Développement, Genève, LLM Program of International Law. He is the first U.S. citizen to graduate from this program, a specialization in international law focused on energy, environment, and natural resources. Gabel has his own law firm, and one of his areas of practice is water law – a subject he was inspired to pursue after interning with the Cultural Foundations workshops that focused on water issues. In this program, which takes place every semester, upperclassman interns facilitate workshops on a particular topic for all the students taking CULF courses related to global issues. Gabel interned during a year when the focus was on water rights, and that set the course for his later career.
