St. Edward's launches Farm to Work on the Hilltop | Sustainability at St. Edward's

The Office of Human Resources and the Sustainability Office are excited to announce that the Farm to Work program will start at St. Edward’s. The Sustainable Food Center has matched Braune Farms (pronounced “brownie”) out of Seguin, TX with St. Edward’s to bring fresh produce to campus each week!The first delivery will take place on Monday, February 22 and you can begin placing your orders on Tuesday, February 16. Deliveries will be on Mondays between 12:00 and 12:30pm, at the far northeast end of the parking garage. Later on this spring, Tecolote Farm out of Manor, TX will swap with Braune Farms to deliver goods to campus.

The Farm to Work program is open to anyone with a St. Edward’s email address, including students, staff, and faculty.

The Farm to Work program is an award-winning Farm Direct initiative designed by the Sustainable Food Center. The Farm to Work program will arrange the delivery of fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables – straight to you at work! Deliveries will be weekly. Each week, you can choose to participate or to not participate. Each basket of food contains a variety of high quality, locally grown seasonal fruits and vegetables delivered by the farmer who grew it. Each basket has a market value of $20-$25, which is the cost of the weekly order.

Thanks to the input of St. Edward’s students, staff, and faculty members from a survey launched last fall, Sustainable Food Center was able to determine that the Hilltop is a great place for the project to happen, so a big thanks to those of you who filled out the survey!
