The Social Media Experience

Twitter is extremely popular today for any type of country. To me, in my personal opinion, Twitter is an all in one tool. I am able to keep track of a company I like plus any blogs they post as well as keep up-to-date with my friends while. While they’re are other tools to keep track of companies and certain blogs or RSS feeds so as images (1)Feedly or Bloglines, I find that if it’s relevant enough it’s going to be posted on Twitter, just how I like it, short sweet and to the point. (However I do love feedly to keep track with all the vlogs and beauty guru’s I follow on YouTube.

How do you use Twitter and more importantly how do you use it to your company’s advantage? How do you get followers and how do you keep them? There are many blogs that I’ve come across that have great strategies, such as ‘A Dr. Seuss Inspired Guide to Twitter,‘ by Evan LaPage of Hootesuite.’ “Tweets about content, content about Tweets. How do you get retweets when all your Tweets seem like repeats.”? Who doesn’t love Dr. Seuss and what easier way to remember how to use Twitter to your advantage.

If you’re looking for a more technical step-by-step guide to Twitter, Charlene Kingston from the Social Media Examiner offers some great advice. Step 1: Present You Brand, Step 2: Build a Strong Foundation etc…in which she makes a really good point. People expect to get on Twitter and automatically send out a message through all social media outlets and expect to gain a ton of ‘Likes’ and ‘Followers,’ but it doesn’t work like that.

Being consistent and Tweeting everyday multiple times a day is what’s going to get your followers, even if you don’t have any at first. Not only tweeting multiple times a day, but tweeting relevant contact and sticking to your brand is extremely important. If you Tweet about a blog post you just wrote and simply write, “Check out this new post on my blog,” people aren’t going to check it out because it sounds boring. Writing something along the lines of “You’ll never guess what I wrote about today…? #curious,” or something along those lines (you get the point) then people will be more inclined to check it out.

Twitter is a 140 character or less tool that is used to grab people’s attention which in turn will bring more attention to your brand. The better content you create the greater the experience you will create for your followers which is ultimately the goal here. You want to make your followers get excited to see about what Tweets you’ll be sending out that day; whether it’s a promotion for 50% off your product and a deal that you’re offering the first 50 people to favorite your Tweet, you have to create incentive for them to keep coming back to your Twitter account.

Good point about Twitter being an all-in-one tool, especially if you use Hootsuite. Great advice about engaging and attracting your Twitter readers. Relevancy is definitely key!
