Louise Zhang seeks out to capture a sense of cute morbidity through her installations and paintings. She creates forms (‘blobs’, as she has named them) that appear slippery, slimy, and almost unrealistic. In 2014, the Sydney-based artist held an exhibition, Plomp, exploring the grotesqueness of the blob forms while also exploring color and design. Her choice of bright, inviting colors juxtapose the gross organic shapes of the blob, ultimately forcing the viewer to feel confused as to how they should perceive her work.
Included in these photos are pieces from Plomp, as well as pieces from other exhibitions and her portfolio.
