Monday, is Earth Day and kicks off a week of events and activities at St. Edward’s University devoted to celebrating Earth Week and sustainability. In honor of Earth Week, here are a few ways you can easily get involved.
Recycle
Before you throw something away, check to see if you can recycle it. If you’re confused about what you can and can’t recycle, check out our blog post here. The university also recycles styrofoam, and batteries.
BYO Mug
Bring your own mug (or reusable bottle) to campus. You can get a year-round discount on coffee at Bon Appetit on local Coffee Traders coffee or score a discount on coffee and select drinks at Jo’s Coffee.
Pack a reusable bag
Before you head out the door, make sure you have your reusable tote bag. You can use it at the grocery store, while running errands, or to carry extra supplies between classes.
Go meatless
Skip meat at your next meal and opt for the vegetarian or vegan option. Bon Appetit always has a vegetarian option and you can find vegan options at all campus cafes.
Turn the lights off
When you leave a room, flip the switch off to conserve energy. It’s a good habit that helps save you money.
