Bon Appétit, St. Edward’s food service provider, is celebrating Farmworker Awareness Week with two exciting events on campus today: first a behind-the-scenes tour of the Bon Appétit kitchen and then a film screening.
Behind the Scenes Tour of the Kitchen at St. Edward’s
Join Chef Tanner and Amanda Wareham, Fellow for the Bon Appétit Management Company, for a tour of the kitchen at St. Edward’s University.
See the inner workings of a professional kitchen, ask questions, and learn about the key ingredients of sustainable food service: sourcing from local farms and artisans, cooking from scratch and minimizing waste.
Wednesday, March 29th, 3:00 PM – 3:30 PM, South Congress Market, Ragsdale Center
Please RSVP here.

Screening of “The Harvest [La Cosecha]”
Join students from the College Assistance Migrant Program and Student Action with Farmworkers and Bon Appétit Fellow, Amanda Wareham, for a screening of The Harvest [La Cosecha]. The film revisits Harvest of Shame, filmed over 50 years ago, and reveals that little has changed in the past five decades in the lives of migrant farm workers in the United States. The Harvest [La Cosecha] is told from a child’s perspective, presenting three of the more than 400,000 children between the ages of 5 and 16 who labor in fields and factories, lacking the protections offered by the Fair Labor Standards Act that other American children enjoy.
Wednesday, March 29th, 5:00 PM-7:00 PM, Maloney Room
Please RSVP here.
