As you know, Wild Basin is habitat for an endangered songbird, the golden-cheeked warbler. Wild Basin is part of a broader 5-year scientific study on the golden-cheeked warbler population around Austin, and one of the important things they need to know for this study is how much human activity is on the trails.
The team at Wild Basin needs volunteers to help count the number of visitors at the preserve on a weekend and mid-week. This will involve a 2-hour shift of sitting in the parking lot at the trailhead and keeping a tally of visitors using a simple datasheet.
They can’t make this happen without your help, so please sign up for a shift or two if you have any availability on April 11-12 (Sat-Sun) or April 14-15 (Tues-Wed)!
