1. My future is somewhat planned out. I have my 4 year plan made, I’m set on my majors, I have my summer classes planned out as well as housing and jobs for the next couple years. I know where I’d like to get to as a career, but I’m not quite sure what to do after college to get to that goal. I feel like I need a need a bit more knowledge and experience before I pursue an internship. Although I’m a bit uncertain about what I’ll be doing in the game development, I do have a tentative short-term backup plan. Since I’m an RA now, and will hopefully spend my next 2 years here as an RA as well, I could try to get a job with Residence Life after I graduate. My plan is pretty customized to me because I’ve had a good idea of what I’ve wanted to do for a very long time now, and I’ve spent a lot of time really thinking about how I will spend my time in college, and reconsidering my plan and developing it whenever I accept a new opportunity or alter my course a bit.
  2. I’m probably not going to study abroad. When I was a freshman, I thought it might be nice to go to Japan or Australia, but since I’m double majoring and I’m an RA, it wouldn’t be a wise decision for me to go. I would love to go on a faculty-led trip if Bob, the IGST director, was going to lead it and it was happening in the winter or summer, but I doubt it. Since there are a lot of game development studios in Japan and I’m taking Japanese as my language, I think that going to Japan would be the most interesting.
  3. My freshman year, I was a resident event planner, went to anime club, and I started attending meetings for a game development group on campus called Alt Mind Ctrl. This year, I’m a Resident Assistant in the village, and I’m the Art Director for Alt Mind Ctrl. I’m currently talking to a lot of different people, trying to see how feasible it would be to have an LLC or special interest group in the residence halls dedicated to video game development. I would love to integrate my passion for game development with my position as a resident assistant and see if I can coordinate studio tours and have a group of people to develop games together, live together, and have game nights. I’m considering e-mailing the speaker from that week that was representing Art Club and seeing if there’s a way for me to hold a leadership position there as well if I have time for that.
