Blog Post #5

Part 1:

1. The goal for this assignment was to expose one roll of film and develop it. There was no particular thing or concept that was assigned to photograph but just to continue taking as many pictures as possible so we can learn to fix our mistakes.

2. The picture of the baby was taken in the hospital over a week ago. A friend of mine had her baby boy and I decided to take my camera when I went to visit her. He was born about an hour before this was taken.

Part 2:

1. The strongest aspect of this picture is the baby because he is the center of the photo. Also, the fact that he is in a white blanket and the background is darker makes him stand out more.

2. When you look at this print up close you can see how grainy it actually is and you can tell that I clearly did not know how to control the aperture of the camera.

3. The composition of this photo could be improved if I were to reprint it and maybe make the baby’s skin a bit lighter so it could look softer.

4. I was not thinking of a concept when I took this photo but now I think it would have been a good idea to make this the ideal photo to bringing life into the world or bringing a new light of hope.

5. This photo could be strengthened technically by learning how to use the camera better such as the aperture and also learning how to make better prints. The picture was exposed onto the paper very crooked and to the side and one second more could have made the photo just right.

6.  Learning film is not as easy as I thought it would be but my second roll of film turned out somewhat better besides a lot of the pictures being too light and blurry.
