My four year plan  is too learn as much I can in my chosen field of choice, gain experience where I can. I also hope that in my pursuit for learning I’ll become interdisciplinary in other topics and my application of them.

I hope to be able to work with the media and social media make content that I enjoy. I hope to become a documentary photographer as well as a skilled writer. Hand in hand, I’ll be able to tell my story, but stories of marginalized people joy or sadness.

My minor is communication because I wanted to learn more techniques to produce a succinct message or get you’re point across interpersonally. I believe this will be a good choice because the major allows for more flexibility.

Reflection and Inspiration

These are some of my thoughts while watching the senior presentations.

Photocommunciation student- I like that she was very focused on honing her skills, it seems that she’s found what she comfortable taking pictures and was surrounded her career goals around the fact. I also think that it’s cool the she using analog cameras which is something that I hope to get better off, but of course I’m consider the cost of such practice. Digital seems more practical to me right now.

Visual Arts Student- She is very driven by whatever seems to intrigue her and part of her everyday life. She’s very talented and continuously practicing, she talked about trying are stills of drawing and drawing from eh fun of which is something admire. She also didn’t say no to an opporunity was able to get a job that used her skills on a day to day basis.

Game Studies Student- I like that she was very courageous in teaching her self. She was stressed being connected with people in your field and seeking to know the people that make up the field. She was very career oriented, and I definitely understand the importance of practicing and teaching yourself but also networking and connecting with folks.

Website.

1.http://www.daviduzochukwu.com- I like the images are large, the website is simple with little distraction.

2.http://www.brentstirton.com – His documentary work is amazing. I like that there is an option for captions but it’s not intrusive. I also like the various categories, but never too much

3. http://larajade.com- I love the simplicity of the website. I want to add a blog, I also like the various collections but in grid form. I like that you can click on to see what’s in the specific collection . I also didn’t think of a quick portfolio but thats a great idea for showing all your work at once so that one isn’t overwhelmed by that.

4. https://www.jansochor.com – I like this sight because of the long form written portion. I like the diversity into pic he choices to cover. I also like he idea of having a section called photo essays’ which is a little bit more flexible then photojournalism.

Self- Critique

I believe the project was to a free for all, it was to create a set of images that told a narrative that utilize topics we talked about in class, from creating a narrative to to qaulity of light to composition. This us one of my proudest works. To start off, I thought of about what I was good at, which was portraits, then I picked a subject and I knew I worked really well in catching people in intimate places so I found the

Critique-

Now that I look at this work, I feel like it comes off a little stiff or too posed, I feel like I could have experimented with still objects in addition to people. I also wished that I shot this in RAW, but the outtakes came out the way I hoped. I think the strongest part of this work is a color palette and the use of light. I think this work was one of my greatest work honestly. Especially the one with the bar of light on the girl face, which is touchy on the idea of being silence, vunerablity, the oppression of gender roles and more.

Johnson Tsang and his imaginative work

Johnso Tsang work is a sculptor, one of the first works I’ve ever seen from this artist was the Lucid Dream Series (Posted at the bottom). Lucid dreaming is the state your dreams are fluid and you are aware of what’s happening in them, but what’s even better you are able to change and control things in the dream. The idea of fluidity and control is apparent in the sculptures as the view see a series of clay faces be altered in dream like way. From a face being squashed with a palm to a head being held like a plastic bag and his ability to make his sculptures seems malleable in their finished state adds to this idea of lucid dream. I was also just astonished by his talent and ability to shape clay so masterfully.

Here’s  link to Tsang’s to more work, I would defiantly encourage you to explore; https://johnsontsang.wordpress.com
