These are two collages that I am working on for my Visual Arts class. Our assignment was to create collages with the use of photoshop and the photos that we took of South Congress. For one I combined the element of illustration with the photo, and the other I combined pieces of different photos to create the mixture of elements.
I would not say I had a ‘strong’ aspect in any of these pieces as I am new to collage making, but I feel as an illustrator the one on the left looks like it is the better of the two.
My weakest would be creating the collage in the first place, so I would not say that the one on the right has reached the Harmony the assignment was looking for.
I believe that the project could be strengthened conceptually once I am able to get a better grasp on how to make a visually pleasing and interesting collage. A combination of foreign elements is not something I am used to.
It could be strengthened technically perhaps once I have understood the use of photoshop more than I do now (this project being the first time I have used a computer program for art).
I’m really enjoying both collages. Love the added illustration.
