Graphic Design II – Visual Identity: Mark

My visual identity mark was influenced by my interpretation of the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail as a serene vacation, which I extrapolated into a narrative framing the location in a way that a high-end spa would be depicted. My initial icon had sharp edges, curved forms and a cool, muted color palette that was meant to invoke the idea of relaxation. However as I continued with the project, I realized that I instead wanted to depict the trail as a lively, natural location, and changed my mark to reflect this by rounding off edges, adding more asymmetry, and switching to an earthy color palette.
