An artist that I find inspiring for my ethereal and elemental ideals is Simon Kenny.

His abstract paintings are beautifully lit and dramatically filled with color. They seem hazy at first until you begin to pick out details within the painting.

They look like a sunrise, combined with an element from space, and an ocean waves breaking at sunrise.

The ability to see an image within an abstract piece of art based on your own individual interpretation and understanding is incredible. An aspect of painting that has intrigued me, but I have not yet been able to grasp… the technique.

The dark corners, brightly lit middle region and disarray of color is all perfectly placed in order to create a dramatic image.

I will also use this as inspiration for my ten small paintings.
