PART 1
Tuan’s presentation showed me that I need to be open to do a variety of projects for a variety of people. I could make projects for my friends and family, and also work on more professional works as well. In the end, all of these different projects aid in having 10,000 hours of practice towards designing.
Hollis’s presentation provided an insight to the different areas of visual art. She explained how important it is to find things that are interesting to influence your art. She also explained how the medium “tells the truth” with the artistic process, and how the art progresses.
Bill emphasized the notion that “Life is not linear”, and that there isn’t just one set path for success. This is illustrated by how his career path has changed so much from photo journalism to various forms of photography, before heading towards abstract work.
PART 2
In the next year, I plan to finish my freshman year of college, learn to drive and get my license, and then move into an apartment with my best friend. The following year, I want to continue my schooling and start my minor in English, and try to find an internship through talking to people and online. The year after that I want to apply for study abroad, and see if I can study in a different country, although it wouldn’t be the best money-wise for my best friend. After that year, I want to finish my schooling at this school, and try to get a stable job with a design company. When I get a comfortable level of living, I want to peacefully run an Etsy store on the side selling things like stuffed animals, stickers, or keychains.
