Our assignment was to create a one-shot music video to Taylor Swift’s song “Shake It Off”
We were required to employ particular techniques; it had to be shot in one take, lip-syncing throughout the entire video, a steady cam, and choreography.
We were each assigned by Jimmy to a particular part in the creation of the video. There were a variety of roles that were assigned to individuals to create our video including; director, steady cam operator, grip, production designer, editor, and choreographer. My job, as well as a couple other classmates, was the role of being Choreographer. As choreographer we were assigned the role of making up the moves for each and every word throughout or video. We did this by creating a very specific storyboard that we all could follow. We also assigned each classmate to a part within the video (we were all required to be featured)
This project turned out to be a lot of fun. Although I probably would be content with never hearing that song again for the rest of my life, the project overall was a blast and taught me some really important things about design. We all had different ideas and opinions about how the video should be produced. We were forced to work as a team and incorporate everyone’s ideas into the final result. It showed me that everyone has something to contribute and allowed us to unite all our creativity to produce a really fun and current project that we all were happy with after seeing the final result.
