Drawing II. Alex Robinson. Spring 2016.
For this project we had to come up with a set of rules to follow to while creating 20 drawings for a total of one hour each.
My rules were:
1. Can only use white, yellow and teal paint
2. Can only use orange and purple water color
3. Use ink
4. Create a layer using a pattern from trip to China
5. Flip the paper 5 times or more
6. Use the same picture from China for every drawing. Use the mountain landscape as reference.
These were my first drawings for the first critique. After the critique, I narrowed down my choice of backgrounds to only two. I was worried that my drawings were looking too “crazy” and was told during the critique that it as interesting to see repetition with the patterns.
With this following teal and yellow piece I learned that I could use all my colors without all the colors competing with each other. From here on I stopped trying to make the drawings all look the same and started exploring more possibilities.
