Did you change your spring break plans because of the virus? From what to what?

I didn’t necessarily have plans, but I’m unable to see my all of my friends that came home from around the country/state.

How did you feel when you were informed the remainder of the semester would be held online?

I was elated at first, but soon realized I would have to take Statistics online. I am upset about tuition though, as we pay high rates to have a more personalized instruction.

Where will you be living while courses are held online? Is this a change from usual?

At my parent’s house. They live in the Austin Metroplex. Nothing I haven’t done before

What has been your experience with moving classes online? What’s good? What’s not so good?

I don’t have to wake up at 9am anymore! The only thing that isn’t good about online is that it is not a suitable learning environment for me. I did online classes for senior year of high school so I am going based off of my own experience.

How has the virus (and the precautions taken to prevent it spreading) impacted your daily life?

My routines have switched up a bit. I am being way more cautious and considerate about my hygiene as well as taking the preventative steps to avoid transmission of SARS-CoV-20.

How worried are you about getting the virus?

Yes. Very. This is something that isn’t being taken seriously, and that shows as the US currently has the leading amount of COVID-19 cases. Our medical system is atrocious, infrastructure is weak, and our government is incompetent.

Do you know anyone who has gotten COVID-19?

Yes. My friend’s elderly aunt and my sister-in-law’s cousin.

Are you staying in? What are you doing to pass the time?

I wish I could say yes. I have been working pretty much all of spring break to save money. On my down time I like to paint, pick up my clarinet, or just watch tiktoks.

Are you going out? Where do you go and what is it like?

Yes. I only go out to work. Parking lots are usually empty, restaurants only doing pick up, nighttime is eerily quiet. Many people aren’t staying home though, and that is purely due to our fractured government and lack of care for their citizens. We can’t afford to not work.

What is giving you hope and/or strength right now?

Nothing. Experts and scientists have already predicted the outcome of this virus. Our medical system will crash unless we have a massive reform RIGHT NOW.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about what you’re feeling or experiencing right now?

I feel cheated, tired, and scared. Our government is failing the people and it’s only a matter of time before the collapse of the United States. Seriously.
