Blog Post #1
Part 1:
1. What are the main points of each article?
The main points of Article #1 are that artists and creativity are now valuable to the world of business and that entrepreneurs and innovators can learn a lot from looking, thinking, and doing as an artist does. The main points of Article #2 are that artists and entrepreneurs are very similar in that they must be creative and passionate about what they do to achieve their vision and the only thing artist need to learn from entrepreneurs is to look to others to help them achieve their vision in a realistic way.
2. What can artists learn from their “entrepreneurial cousins”?
Artists can learn to look to other people for help and to develop partnerships with others who have different talents than themselves to be able to achieve their ultimate vision. Also artists can learn to begin at a small level and to work themselves up to achieve their vision and goals.
3. Do you agree that artists are entrepreneurs? Why?
I do agree that artists are entrepreneurs because as an artist you must sell your vision and your work to the world and in order to build a business you must produce something that consumers want and will support.
4. Which of the 12 characteristics of artists do you agree with?
I agree that artists are great storytellers, artists are like children, artists are neophiles, artists are humanists, and artists are craftspeople.
5. What others would you add to the list?
I would add that artists are self-disciplinary and artists are ever evolving into a better version of themselves.
6. Additional Notes
The comparison between artists and entrepreneurs is very accurate and is something I wholeheartedly agree with. Artists do have to build a business just as an entrepreneur does by developing healthy and great partnerships with others that also believe in your vision.
Part 2:
1. Do you have grit, or is there something you need to work on?
I have some grit, but not as much as I would like to have. I definitely need to work on my ability to focus and concentrate on projects that take longer and to stick to one goal and not constantly change it.
2. List a couple of things you could do to increase your level of grit.
I could force myself to hold off on new projects and finish the ones I have already started. I could also designate a period of time where I work on my projects everyday so that I would complete them. I also could write down my goals both short-term and long-term so that I can stick to them.
