Cognitive Map

My idea for my decision map came from my own experience with lipstick and how I wanted a guide for what lipstick color to purchase. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to include examples or suggestions for what lipsticks to buy for each color I included, so I went about making an individual icon for each lipstick to show the viewer what they looked like roughly so it would be easier for them to locate in a store or online. I did research on choosing lipstick colors and tried to compile the information I found into a comprehensible decision map that could be hung on display for shoppers. The overall design of the map was meant to be enjoyable and playful especially the color choice. At times it was difficult fitting all of the options and boxes onto the map and so I had to employ my problem-solving skills to successfully fit them all while also retaining legibility.
