Line: a mark that can be segmented or infinite
Shape: A 2D or 3D form
Texture: A line pattern creating a tactile appearance or visual sensation
Value: A range between light and dark
Color: reflected light
Plane: A 3D form that has length and width with minimal thickness
Volume: enclosed area of 3D space
Mass: solid 3D form
Space: an area within or around a substance
Light: Defines objects, can change meaning of the subject
Time and Motion: can be actual or implied and are two aspects of line
Unity/Variety: unity is likeness amongst the subjects while variety is differences/uniqueness
Balance: design elements equally distributed throughout the piece
Scale: how big or small something is in scale to another
Rhythm: the movement of the elements can direct the viewer’s gaze throughout the piece
Emphasis: places importance or focus an element
