VISU 1100 Blog Post #12
Part 1: Based on the notes you took during class, write a brief description and response to each of the Faculty presentations.
Kim Garza is a graphic designer. In her presentation she talked about several projects and jobs she has worked on like the app Eventurist. She also talked about her personal project: Till The Clouds Roll By. The clips she showed of her project were really interesting and cool to see. It was enlightening hearing her talk about all of her different projects and the jobs she has done as a graphic designer.
Tammie Rubin is an arts professor and is an artist. Her presentation was very engaging and interesting to listen to. She mainly talked about her work and showed pictures of various shows she has been in. Her medium of choice is ceramics and recycled objects. I liked seeing her work and hearing her talk about her ideas behind her pieces. I found her main idea unique.
James Shuran is a photo professor and is a photographer. His work and main idea really spoke to me and I enjoyed seeing his work and listening to him speak about it. He mainly showed and talked about his work and his experiences in the photography field.
Part 2: Reflection on this semester and course. Feel free to write any and all comments here. We want and appreciate your feedback (both positive and critical).
Looking back on this semester and on this course in particular I really enjoyed my first couple months of being at St. Edward’s. This class in particular really helped me get a good picture of the different areas of the visual studies and of the graphic design field. This course gave me a lot of ideas and opportunities for the next three years and beyond. All of the talks/ lectures helped me to better understand my major and the jobs that follow after graduating. I was given a lot of good advice and help during this course. I truly find nothing wrong with this course and I really enjoyed learning and listening to the different speakers and professors that were apart of the class.
