VISU 1100 Post #11
Part 1:
Tuan talked mostly about the different projects and designs he did for his father’s businesses and collaborations he did with friends. I liked seeing his work. It helped me to visualize what a graphic designer might create and what kind of work they might do. I really liked how he up cycled the moving boxes and then gave them to his friends as gifts. Also he did a lot of work for his family and friends and gave them pieces of his artwork as gifts. This sounds like something I would do so I really connected with him on that level.
Hollis talked about her work and her graduate school experience. She showed a lot of her exhibits and the drawings she had done. I liked hearing about how she constructed her sculptures of trash in her exhibits and her interests. I really connected with her when she was talking about her comic that she was creating. Creating a comic is something that I want to do eventually. I also liked how she implemented a comic style in her drawings of rubble and trash.
Bill talked about how his work evolved from doing commercial work to exploring areas that he wanted to. I liked seeing how his work evolved from one stage to the next. I found it interesting that he went from photographing people to creating images with just blobs of colors that don’t have a specific shape or form to them.

What are your long term goals beyond college?
My longterm goals beyond college are to get published in a children’s book or in a comic. I also want to travel outside of the states and also visit the National parks.
What do you need to do to accomplish those goals?
What I need to accomplish these goals is a lot of motivation and patience. To get published I need to stay focused and dedicated to my vision. To travel outside of the states and visit the National Parks I will need money and time so I need to find a job that is flexible and pays well.
