Blog Post #2
Part 1:
After I documented my use of time over the last week I realized that I tend o do the same things each day. I subconsciously created my own schedule. During the week I tend to relax and do a little homework in-between classes and most of my homework at night right before I go to bed. During the weekends I go out and Sunday is the day I do my homework for Monday.
Part 2:
My senior year I spent most of my days in the art room and worked on pieces for TAPPS and for my own pleasure. This piece was one of the many that I completed during last year. This is a portrait of my two closest friends and myself casted as the femme fatale trio of a noir film. I got the main inspiration from listening to Biggie and looking at drawn movie posters from the 80’s. The scenes for the movie are in the top corners, the beach and the city, and in the bottom corners are two types of flowers, roses and tropical flora. The city and beach landscapes are dripping onto the flowers and down the background to symbolize a dream-like effect. The lines depicting hair all come together to show a union between all three of us. I feel like this piece shows my interests in depicting women as a powerful force in a movie-like or old Hollywood aesthetic. I also want to create my art with a story along with it that plays like a movie in the observers’ mind just as it does in mine.
