12th post

  • In this semester, this class has been a very unique experience. There were a lot of different visitors from different industries who all did different things with their art.
  • There was a lot of different insight from all sorts of people, and we were able to get insight on creation processes.
  • I have however enjoyed to see more people who were in the video games industry.

The eleventh post

  • Each of the presentations given were pretty interesting. I found the sculptures to all be very interestingly designed, and the idea that they were created based on concepts such as speaking tubes was interesting. The photographs that were modified were also very interesting and good looking, and its cool that someone would be able to make something so different out of a previously existing image. Although I’m not a huge fan of minimalism, but most of the designs presented were actually very good looking.
  • I need to focus on improving on my art style and maybe completing some individual projects like a comic or something. I need to  find an entry level video game job as well like a job testing games for bugs.

Tenth Blog Post

  • I found the presenters this week to be especially interesting. It was nice to be able to see a presentation by someone who is currently working in the game industry with some games that are currently fairly popular. The group also gave some information covering some things that people looking to enter the industry should do to prepare themselves.
  • Question: What is your favorite part of the work day.

  • I found the photographer’s presentation to be very interesting. The images he took of the different movie sets and movie stars were very interesting to look at. It was very interesting to see all of the people from Boyhood growing up over the years as well.
  • Some places I might be interested in taking an internship

Post Number Eight

  • I wouldn’t say my future is exactly the most planned thing, but it is at least slightly customized to me. I’m a huge fan of video games and art, so I at least feel like I’m moving in the right direction.
  • I’m not super interested in travel abroad, but I might be interested in at least visiting Japan.
  • I’m a member of the video game club. I play a lot of Super Smash Bros, and I’m thinking of entering the Smash 4 tournament.

The most relatable presenter during the class for me was the presenter who worked with the design on the projects which were shown via a Skype conference. He was a very friendly feeling person and I enjoyed most of the designs shown in the presentation. I was really surprised with the issues with the presentation itself, but honestly, that made him very easy to feel comfortable with. The issues actually made me feel more like he was a normal person and that helped me feel better about the cool projects he presented.

Fifth Post

  • Completed Projects

    • Two projects I’ve completed are a sculpture and a project illustrating different aspects of art with circles.
    • The goal of the sculpture was to draw out a 3d object on a 2d surface and then recreate it in 3d.
  • I feel that the sculpture’s biggest strength is that it is relatively accurate to its source material.
  • It’s weakest aspect could be how it doesn’t necessarily show off the dowels it was made of and most of what is visible is paper.
  • The illustration’s biggest strengths could be considered that they feature several unique designs.
  • It’s weakest features might be the craftsmanship on the paper.

Part 1: The presentations shown during last class were fairly interesting. Each of the presenters showed off something different the other ones didn’t. The contents of the presentation on photograph was a very interesting bit perspective. I really liked the designs that were presented by the graphic design presentation and that bit about talking to aliens was really entertaining. The video game presentation, however spoke to me the most. It was nice to know all the different types of people where who make games.

Part 2: http://tumblr.com Tumblr is a very fun, accessible website for me. I appreciate how all one has to do is log into the site and start scrolling down to look at all of the things that have been uploaded.

http://steampowered.com Steam is where I like to do most of my gaming. Its a little hub that handles a lot of different video games from different publishers.

https://cytu.be/ Cytube is a fun website that allows you to watch synchronized videos with other people online. These videos can be from youtube, dailymotion, google drive, and from anywhere else you can grab a direct video really. Its a very fun website for when you just want to watch something with some friends you have online.

http://tvtropes.org Tvtropes is an interesting site where one can read about common patterns in all forms of media. The site is all inclusive, so it includes pretty much everything from books to video games and everything in between. It’s managed like a slightly less serious Wikipedia, so content is typically uploaded with a sense of humor.

One of my favorite artists is Invader, a French urban artist who creates art based on the pixel art present in many video games. Others than the topic he dedicates his art to, one of my favorite things about the artist is the mysterious nature of their creations. Although Invader’s work is relatively high profile, they work anonymously, and mostly keep their identity to themselves. I consider this mysterious air, as well as the unique aesthetic the art leaves behind makes for a very interesting artist. Invader has a website that displays some of the works they have previously worked on, as well as the plans they have for future projects that can be found here. http://www.space-invaders.com/home/
