1. How did your group approach the concept of shelter? Was it successful? Why?

In my group we took the idea of shelter as “the childhood” idea. When we were kids, life was something totally new, and everything was big, a little scary, and yet so secure. When we were kids our parents mad sure that nothing was harmful and everything was a learning experience. We lived in a shelter. A shelter that protected us without hiding, enclosed us without breaking our wings.

And we came up with this hanging shelter. The design came straight from my memories as a child, when I made fortresses with my sisters. And I think we were successful. Some people wanted to sleep under it with a blanket, too little girls played in it (one was Alex’s daughter).

2. What was the group budget for the project? Where did you ource your materials and how did they cost?

$13. We bought some materials at Michael’s, then the branches we found them around, literally on the street.

3. Was the workload equal? Explain.

It was pretty much equal. We all went together to buy the stuff we needed. We all made the support structure, we all made the ropes for holding, we all cut and hanged the tulle. I think we spent around the same amount of time working on the project. I never felt like working more or less than my two group mates.

4. What was the strength that you added to the group, your weakness?

My strength was maybe more technical, since I taught them how to do the crochet chains for the rope and how to attach the wood sticks together.

My weakness was maybe that I was not doing a very good job as leader… I should have put us to work earlier… but it worked, so it was not terrible.

5. What role did you find you played in the group dynamic?

Because the design was mine, I took more the leader roll. But as a leader I like to get to consensus more than tell orders.

6. What advice would you give to the next group that must complete this project?

Plan less and work more. Play.
