South Congress Collage

collage

My collage embodies the phrase “beauty lies within the eye of the beholder.” The beholders, in this case, being the girl with the multi-colored eye and the Picasso-esque face, are both  looking outward and admiring the beauty of South Congress. To demonstrate this, I wanted to focus on the gestalt principles of continuity, repetition, closure in the variations of lines, texture, and color to highlight the unconventionality and complexity of South Congress. My goal was to introduce juxtapositions of color and black and white, night and day, and nature and manmade construction to challenge the viewer’s perspectives of everyday sights on South Congress.
