The Best Ways To Help Improve Young Girls In Sports
By: J.Williams
I know as a caregiver and as a young athlete, the question of how to get better immediately comes with starting a sport. It’s easy to get caught up in pouring a lot of money into privates and buying tools to help get better but I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to spend lots of money to see progress. Here are three simple, cost-effective ways to improve at the sport of your choosing.
Practice
Practice is a very obvious one, but it should not be overlooked! To get better at your sport you must spend time working on your skills. This doesn’t mean you have to invest in privates, but you can do something as simple as going into your backyard and working on a skill. If it’s basketball going to a court and practicing ball handling or shooting is very simple. If your sport is track practice sprint workouts and running techniques. Or even if it’s volleyball or soccer, going and practicing ball control skills. Allowing time to practice the sport you love will naturally help you grow. If you’re out of ideas on how to practice on your own, go look up ideas on Google or Youtube! There are many resources to help you grow on your own!
Watch The Game
Watching the game is also a very fun and easy way to get better at your skill! By watching a professional athlete performing the correct skill your brain can take that information in and learn from it. Watching 5 to 10 minutes of sports before bed makes you more likely to dream about the sport and make neurological connections. It’s also good as well to watch your film once you can identify the correct form. This way you can see what your body is doing versus what you believe you’re doing and make a mental connection from there. Watching a sport that you love is not only a good way to relax, but it also helps you get better at your sport as well.
Set Goals
The last easy and free way to get better is to set goals! Setting goals helps not only motivate you but improve your skills. By setting goals you are consciously making an effort to work towards improvement in a certain skill. Make sure that you are patient with the goals that you have set because all improvement takes time. Also, make sure to set goals that focus on gradually making progress instead of outcomes that can take years to achieve. Enjoy the process of learning and growing!
Playing sports should be fun and something you look forward to doing. It isn’t always necessary to poor a ton of money into getting better when there are easy and effective things you can do every day! The next time you ask yourself how can I get better or how can I make my child better, look back at these easy solutions.
