About Cheerleading
Cheerleading isn’t as straight forward as you see in the movies. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears are behind the big bows and flashy uniforms. Starting your female athlete off with tumbling or gymnastics would be wise. That way they can get a feel for it and see if it is something they want to pursue. Many schools offer a cheer team that is low stress, which would also allow your athlete to make new friends within their school! If your athlete is serious about cheerleading, you can go up to a competitive level. This is a team through a cheer gym which is based on level of ability and age. This way they can compete against other teams around the country and even the world! Like any sport, cheer requires hard work and dedication but will bring along some great benefits!
In all, cheerleading is great for young athletes who love flipping around and are super outgoing. There are many physical and mental benefits. There is a whole cheerleading world out there for them to explore and it might be a great fit for your athlete! Be sure to be on the look out for tryouts or classes to start your young athlete in!
