I think that my most effective designs display a good understanding of aesthetics and organization, and show my capacity to learn and adapt to challenges. I believe I have a good sense of organization when it comes to design. I always imagine who my audience will be for a design, and try to organize information that caters to them. In my designs, I emphasize certain pieces of information according to importance. Aesthetic and visual attractiveness are very important factors in my design, but the information itself must be easily accessible to the audience.
Through the graphic design coursework, I have familiarized myself with design software such as Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Indesign. I had no former experience in most of these programs before transferring to St. Edwards. Through my work I have shown I contain the capacity to learn and excel in new technologies.
There is room for improvement in my work. I almost always run into technical issues while designing and I understand that I must continue to familiarize myself with design programs and tools. There are many different approaches to an end design and I must find out the quickest and most efficient ways to get there. I want to raise the complexity of my work as well. Through designing these projects, I have learned new ways to be more creative and methodical in the design process. My iterative process has improved and gives me many more options to approach an assignment. Learning to put myself in the audiences shoes has improved my designs as well. I have learned to value the critiques of my work from other students and teachers. Overall, I have learned a lot about my role as a graphic designer.
This is my weather report.
This video was not included in my portfolio because it was done on my own free time, but I do feel that it shows my abilities in After Effects.
