Type Specimen Book
Within this project, I utilized color and space in an interesting way to present a typeface that is made for sophisticated uses such as books and corporate identities. This is evidenced by the shapes used throughout the page layout and the placement of those shapes on a page. I find that my color usage is strong in this work and creates a layout that draws attention to the information. However, this design is not without flaws but it is a great work showcasing my emerging skills. There should have been more emphasis on perfecting each paragraph to ensure that the lines did not end up as long as they did. This piece lacks more emphasis on the actual font and the background at times takes away from the type. From this project I have learned just how critical color choices are in a design and that while a layout may look good in sketches, color can essential make or brake theĀ design. This has lead me to now focus more on my color choices to ensure that they are coherent with the overall project.
Weather Report
Within this project, I utilized motion sequences to effectively communicate three LATCH structures. This is evidenced by the animations I used to move information around and the transitions I chose. The simplicity of my animation sequences helped to move information in a effective manner and to communicate the weather by simulating a app on a small scale. However, there are flaws within this work that are minor but affect the overall quality of the piece. Spacing between words could use some improvement, and there are issues with lining up text in some places. There could also be a higher lever of sophistication of the animation to further push the concept of simulating an app. This project helped to stress the importance of purposeful animation. This will aid me in the future to ensure that each animation sequence has a specific purpose and is not done at random.
