We were tasked with creating instructions detailing a place to visit and how to interact with the location in an effort to enhance a person’s experience in the desired location. In order to get people to follow off instructions, we had to create incentive and a desire. Using my original instructions (rules) i chose to create a series of buttons that would be packaged along with my instructions and entice the viewer to go on this adventure. While creating the buttons and packaging I was focused on recreating the general atmosphere and feel of my two locations. The color scheme for Banger’s is more obvious because it’s very reflective of the restaurant itself. The color scheme for the pavilion it’s less obvious, however. I chose bright, vibrant colors because of how bright and colorful the area is during sunrise with the light reflecting back off the lake. And when the weather is at all enjoyable, the surrounding water is filled with bright kayaks. The objects portrayed on the buttons are icons for details in the instructions to give the adventurer a better sense of what they will be doing. While designing the packaging the buttons would go in the main focus was making the instructions legible and understandable without making them overwhelming. This project is a good exercise in product making and marketing, creating a desire that wasn’t there before.
