Mapping Project: Cognitive Map

Decision Map

Also known as a decision or mind map, a cognitive map is designed to help someone make a decision. This map helps to answer a question someone might deal with on a daily basis, what should I use for transportation? Since it is a question posed daily, the map accounts for conditions that may change everyday or even throughout the day such as weather or destination. The map will lead the reader to one of three answers: to bike, bus, or drive wherever they are trying to go. To avoid too much reading on the way to that decision, all of the arrows and lines are color coded to mean a different thing as opposed to simply stating their meaning. For example, the pink arrow means a ‘no’ decision and a blue arrow means ‘yes’. When choosing typefaces, I chose some that were rounded and fun to compliment the round, curvy shapes and fun, casual color palette.
