Manipulating materials to create letter forms was the primary focus of this project. We choose 3 materials to experiment, document, and test for our final presentation. I choose fruit-by-the-foot candy, bubble gum tape, and what ended up being my final choice of material was clothespins. After choosing the material to work with we were to name our constructed type face and photograph a poster for it with an appropriate use for its environment relating to the material. I choose to name my type face “Hung Up” because it related the physical use of a clothespin, to hang clothes or fabrics up on a clothesline. The decision to actually stage my letters in this manner effectively enhanced my design concept overall. Lastly, we were also required to turn in a Process Booklet (pdf link) that showed our experimentation, decisions, and explanation of the project.
