“Nostalgia” A Statement

Conceptually, “Nostalgia” is supposed to represent a process. Taking photographs of my grandmothers doll house, editing the images, printing them, painting them on small scale, then repainting them on a larger scale at first seemed a necessary evil has now become a tedious unworthy task. But i fear this is only because the final goal is too unclear and undefined.

What once was a series that was supposed to help me understand the concept of preserving the memory of loved ones has come up short in achieving its goal. However, because the project is about process i believe i must transform the paintings in order to finalize the project.

I have a clear vision where i will use vintage fabric and sew together the canvases with the fabric to create something wearable, or three dimensional, so that instead of just a painting i produce a tangible object with a stable purpose. This is how to preserve a memory, with preservable art.
