Typography I- Typeface Design
As a freshman I did not know much about typography and this project helped me to understand a bit of what it is that typography is. I was taught to use font struct to create a typeface. This was an exciting project because it was the first time I had to create something like this. I wasn’t thinking about how it would be legible but how I could make it look cool. This was the very first project that grabbed my attention because designing a typeface takes a lot of work. Also it taught me that I should plan it out and not just decided to make something that I thought would be cool and not legible. This project was the first step into the design world and it showed me that it takes more than just creativity to take on this major.I do not have the exact quote that I used to create the text face but I feel that I use one that sort of help understand why my type looks the way it does.
Typography I- Typographic Poster
After completing the first project in typography we were assigned a type specimen of one of our classmates. Once assign the type specimen I was required to do a bit of research on how it should be design. I decided to design the poster into something that would help it look in a natural state. It also taught me to use grid lines. The more I worked on this project the more I learned that it takes knowledge of how to use illustrator and of design to create a poster that will look satisfying. This is a project that I still need to go back and make modifications to. I was allowed to use color in order to help it find and appealing look but the shapes that are being used are not making the image look appealing.
