This map is based on illustrating the different senses are how certain foods interact with them. I chose to do a game day theme. I chose different game day foods and made them compete with each other. Each were compared by how strong they were on the different senses. Each scent had its own symbol, but also the different result of the senses (ex. loudness, sweetness, softness).

Artifact Map
I mapped out the two routes I take during the week depending on which classes I have. I only included the buildings and the routes that are consistent in my routine. In order to make it easy to read, I included numbers next to the buildings in the order of which I went to. I added many different layers to this map to keep it organized. The most basic layer would be the roads that people drive on. The next layer are the color coded buildings. They are color coded depending on their main use. The next layer are the routes. They too are color coded. The final layer would be the photos of the buildings I visited. This gives another dimension to the map and allows the viewer to easily see which buildings are important to be everyday.
Symbol Methodology
These symbols all fall under the larger umbrella theme of “France.” I chose three sub-categories of fashion, royalty, and the Louvre. Aspects from each sub-category was put together to create a symbol. For the Louvre, I chose the eye from the Mona Lisa; the curved shape of the wings from the statue, Winged Victory of Samothrace; and the triangles that made up the glass pyramid. It was a challenge to combine all these different aspects of artwork into one symbol and make it abstract enough to be its own. For fashion I chose to do the fluer de lis and a baret. I felt this was very successful because it looks like a symbol that could be used in the fashion industry. For royalty, I chose to use aspects from the Palace of Versailles, a crown, and the frilly cuffs of a portrait of King Louis XIV. This was the most abstract symbol out of the three. The details I chose from each were very small, but worked well together to create this abstract piece.

Critical Mass
This is the final project for Image Methodology. I created a video describing the life of a tree. My audience is for young children and the intent was to be shown in an elementary science class. I created all the objects in a very basic way to make it appeal to children. The music paired with the video is happy and light because the overall video is happy and light. I do not show the ending life of a tree because I did not want to show that to children. I focused on how the tree interacts with people and animal life.
Scales: Constructivism
These are two videos done as a way to get us acquainted with After Effects. We created them in conjunction to learning about Russian Constructivism. All the animated pieces had to broken apart in Photoshop, then uploaded into After Effects and animated.
Material Studies
I made the word beauty out of eye shadow for this project. I wanted to show how beauty can be artificial, which is why I used crushed eye shadow. This was done on a bathroom sink surrounded by other make up products. This made the scenery relevant to the word. The other make up products on the counter helped show that society makes us believe that we need a lot of products to reach the society standard of beauty. I also show my hand in some of the shots manipulating the eye shadow. All of these elements work together to show how beauty can be artificial and easily created using products.
Dada
This is a series of exercises revolving around Dada. There were three ideas that had to be approached in an abstract way: name, rainbow, and abstract. The main limitation presented is not using images found online. For name I chose the word woman because that is a name and what females are called in different situations. I had a lot of old Glamour magazines, so I took those images and scanned them into the computer. They are organized in a way to emphasize the name woman. For rainbow, I chose to make a food rainbow. This mostly is because I was extremely hungry when this assignment was given. I took photos of different colored produce and assembled them into a rainbow. For abstract, I chose to deconstruct a butterfly. I had an image in my head of a butterfly looking like it was deconstructed because it reflected off many shards of a mirror. However, I realized that the end result was not what I imagined in my mind.

Type Specimen Book
I used the typeface Univers for this project. On the cover of the book, there are three blocked colors. I chose to continue the idea throughout the book in subtle ways on each page. The book portrays Univers at its best and gives the designer an over look of how this typeface can be used in production.
