I immediately knew I wanted to use a CMYK color scheme for this project which was to design a poster advertising an AIGA event. I thought it would be clever to use the colors to reference elements in the design world. I was focused on creating shapes with the text and it was a challenge spacing all of the words. In the end I placed the beams of gradient lines in between the lines to not only activate the space but also distract from the spacing issues.
I had to make the “Bright Lights” effect by hand in Illustrator. Originally I did not like the distance of the line on some of the letters but I think it was all very effective at bringing energy to the poster and guiding attention through hierarchy from the large title letters to the colorful block of text.
