Typography I: Typographic Poster for Classmate
This was the second assignment I completed in the St. Edwards graphic design program. This is quite evident given the poor job that was done in designing the poster. My poster used the font Flower Time New Regular by classmate Anthony Solano and was based on the quote “The hours fly around in a circle”. My color scheme consists of an off yellow and an off blue, as I the font itself is rather out of the ordinary. For the poster on the right I remember thinking of the shape of a planter, because the font is very floral in nature. Thus, I tried to the type out the alphabet in a way that resembled a planter while trying to keep the text looking organized in a rectangle formation.
Typography I: Font Design
This was the very first poster I completed in the St. Edwards graphic design program. The assignment was to create a typeface using the online tool, FontStruct. My font was based on the quote “Singular Agitations and Common Vertigo”. I compiled a Pinterest board based on what I felt like this quote conveyed and used this to construct my font. Many of the images on my Pinterest board were graphite drawings, which feature a lot of fading from dark to light. I wanted my font to have a similar feel, and so I created a font that went from being very dense to very open at the bottom. I wanted my poster to be somewhat consistent with the font style, so I did my best to make it look as though the text was fading from green to purple, which I feel was accomplished because of the less dense lower area of the text.
