VISU 1311 Project #1: Kami Der

I spent a lot of time searching for a common theme in the photographs I took. I found, after several trip to South Congress that I gravitate towards nature. While South Congress is not the place that comes to mind when thinking about plants and nature, South Congress’ businesses do have a lot of plants and vegetation in front of their stores. I decided that this would be the theme that I would go with, nature in front of business. I learned through this project that there’s a difference between taking a beautiful photograph and being able to take photographs for a specific purpose. Taking photographs on a specific street and of a specific theme was difficult. It took a lot of patience and trail and error. I’ve found  that the images I took have a lot to do with the Gestalt themes of repetition and grouping. While there are other Gestalt qualities in these photographs, these are the two I noticed the most.
